How can the latest meteorological technology be used to ensure optimal use of wind for renewable energy?

That was the question that Meteorological Technology International’s reporter asked University of Tübingen Professor Jens Bange and Dr. Andrew Clifton, WindForS Managing Director and also Operating Agent of the IEA Wind Task 32 on wind lidar.

Our answer? We think that by using drones and wind lidar we’ll be able to understand much more about the conditions in and around planned and operating wind plants, and use that to help reduce the costs of wind energy.
