WindForS is a network of over 25 groups at seven universities and research institutions in southern Germany.
We carry out scientific research to support the acceptable and cost-effective deployment of wind energy in complex terrain and offshore.
The Institute of Machine Elements (IMA) contributes wide-ranging expertise to the WindForS research cluster in the fields of drive technology, sealing technology, rail vehicle technology and reliability engineering.
Since the end of March, the installation of the two research wind turbines at the WindForS wind energy test site WINSENT has been completed.
The SINO-GERMAN Mobility Program will take place in Karlsruhe, Germany on September 8, 2023 and will bring together internationally recognized and young researchers to present their research results in the field of offshore geotechnics.
Founded in 2011, the WindForS wind energy research cluster includes more than 20 groups at seven universities and research institutions in Germany. We’re pooling our capabilities in wind energy research and education.
Each member brings unique capabilities to WindForS. Our expertise covers the whole wind energy system, including wind turbines, the electricity grid, people, and the environment.
We work on projects with other researchers and industry. Our projects address issues like social acceptance, optimization, and how to integrate wind energy in to the energy system.
