WINSENT joint project for test site construction launched

The WINSENT joint project will lead to the construction of a test site in complex terrain.

Partners within the WINSENT project are the WindForS institutes of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, of the Universities of Stuttgart and Tübingen, of TU München, of Hochschule Esslingen University of Applied Sciences and of the Centre for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW).

The joint project is divided into three sub-projects, i.e., the detailed characterization of the test site location with regard to its micro climate and meteorology, the preparation and modification of the wind turbines, and the construction and operation of the test site.

The project is coordinated by the ZSW which will also be responsible for its operation. The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy is funding the construction of the test site within the WINSENT joint project (FKZ 0324129A-F) with an amount of about 10.4 million euros. The Ministry of the Environment, Climate Protection and the Energy Sector Baden-Württemberg contributes an additional 1.2 million euros to funding the project.
